Combining genre staples is another thing that the band excels at without ever falling into the trap of tropes. Miles & Miles and You're Killing Me Smalls! are perfect examples of old school pop punk and modern easycore. The pop elements are definitely played up with the smooth vocal work mixed with the chugging guitars and screamed chants. Songs like Shadows and the aforementioned Desolation take a different approach and draw more from modern post hardcore with a more lighthearted feel. There's more serious and emotional songs like Tidal Waves which will easily stay stuck in your head and the almost but not quite a ballad track Legends Die Hard. These song will definitely have you in your feelings.
We Set Signals are piloting a unique ship in a sea of bands that often blur together. They truly deserve more recognition for their sound that feels comfortable and safe and yet pushes boundaries all the same. It's hard not to fall in love with the infectious sound and want more. The band truly one upped themselves with Abandon Hope and it looks like it's clear sailing from here. Be sure to watch out for where they head to next, and keep your eyes peeled for their signal.
