I am a huge fan of short songs. There is something to be said about 2 minutes of catchy, hooky riffs and lyrics. Sometimes I get bored after 3 minutes. So this band was right in my wheelhouse I do not know if they are doing anything anymore, but they created a 4 song EP called Stay Sad that released in September 2015. This thing is short songs on short songs of gooey power pop/indie rock. It combined really nice guitar tones and synth riffs under really nice Male/Female harmonic vocals.
FFO: Phoenix, Echosmith, Pet Symmetry

Another thing I am a fan of: noodley, doodley guitar parts. Hit Home are a math rock/emo band that put out an album in march this year called “...After the Fact” that is chock full of sparkly riffage that made my head spin a bit. Within a span of 10 seconds a song can go from really calm to chaos. I am a fan. I think they even got a nod from Topshelf in the form of a split release.
FFO: Lifted Bells, A Loss For Words, weird time signatures
Track to Listen to: Opaque
I cheated on this one, I knew about this band, but I forgot about them until I was browsing ye old Bandcamp. I saw them live opening for Tiny Green Cars a few years ago, their live show is amazing. It is really really good. They are folky with an edgier rock twist. Harmonies are always on point. Beside all that, they have a friggin cellist. They are going to be on tour soon, I urge you to check them out.
FFO: The Oh Hellos, having a good time, harmonies
