Songs like the aforementioned SATAN666 and the opening track Cosmic Dementia Karate Karnage (such a long title) are so groovy to listen to, they just flow so well. It's hard not to have your head bobbing along the whole way through. If someone were to have hacked my webcam while I was listening they'd probably think I lost the ability to fully hold my head up straight. A lot of the flow is hidden under the intensity and the chaotic sounds. Off beat and dissonant guitar riffs are the item of the day here as expected and they are all executed with precision. It just feels like a band that's having a blast while writing and playing these songs.
Fun and heavy usually don't go together but here they are like peanut butter and chocolate; smooth, sweet, and deadly if you're allergic to either. There's so many moments of off the wall fast paced drumming, guttural screaming, and just gnarly guitar riffs, that all feel like a steam train barrelling down on you with no respite or escape. Mixed in with a ton of breakdowns to satisfy that craving as well. Basically if you like heavy music but are getting a bit bored with the seriousness of it all this album is for you.
I love music so much. Every time I think I've heard the best of a genre or basically think I know what to expect a band like Dead Kiwis comes along and shocks me. There's just so much going on here and it's all polished. A lot of bands that try to have fun like come off as corny or juvenile but they pull it off with great success. The music alone does match the aesthetic but not only that it's a rare breed in this day and age. It certainly won't be for everyone, make no mistake this album is aggressive, heavy, and loud. If you're not a fan of breakdowns, screeching guitars, and a lot of screaming, this isn't really for you. As for the rest of you, enjoy the sweet, beautiful karnage.
