The vocal work on this album is really the standout. The different inflections and accents depending on the song really show off a diverse range and help set the tone and mood of the different songs. It often switches from sarcasm and weird to smooth and serious without skipping a beat. It really helps add some style and flavor to the album overall, it's just fun. Which is not to say the album doesn't take itself seriously when it needs to. Songs like China really have a somber tone overall and feel mournful and longing. Even with the more ironic lyrics there's often a deeper more serious meaning underneath.
Post hardcore is a bit of a catchall genre but most of the bands that fall into this category at least sound similar. Charlatan breaks the mold a bit. By injecting a bit of show tune sensibility, large theatrics, and utter chaos into what we traditionally associate with the genre they breathe new life into the sound. Their style and antics aren't going to be for everyone but Remarkable is worth a listen to find out.
