Stray From The Path have caused an internet uproar with their video for the song Goodnight Alt-Right, here are my thoughts on the whole thing.
By now I’m sure you know all the sordid details of the sexual assault allegations levied against Ben Hopkins of New York queer punk duo PWR BTTM. The sad, sickening story broke just as the band’s second album, Pageant, was set to drop. Before the news of these allegations came to light, PWR BTTM were queer stars on the rise. The band’s two glitter-soaked and gender non-conforming members showed queer kids in the sometimes narrow-minded punk scene that there was room for us, too. PWR BTTM were touted by Noisey as “America’s next great rock band” by Noisey only two weeks ago, but now all of their music has been pulled from all streaming services and web stores. They had the platform, the praise, and the audience to take them into the stratosphere. All along the band had (allegedly) been taking advantage of the status gained from the endless support shown by the queer community and used it for nefarious purposes.
It's finally time to cap off this year that was so good for new releases. These are the Top 10 Albums Of 2016.
It's the end of the year which means it's time for lists! First up the Top 10 Runners Up of 2016.So many good albums this year it was hard to narrow it down. As always my lists are not really ordered by rank, 1 isn't better than 10. These are all great albums.
So the wonderful people at Audiences Everywhere recently put up an article by Sean K. Cureton addressing the new Ghostbusters movie and what it would mean if the movie turns out to be bad. Now if you've been following me you'll know that I have thoughts about the new movie and that my feelings have certainly changed since I first talked about it. After seeing this article which mostly addresses trying to remain critical of the movie without falling into the trap of misogyny I felt like I wanted to address what I felt it would mean if the movie is bad. So here it is, read on to find out what I think it means if the movie is bad.
If you've been keeping up with the news you've surely heard of the recent incident with The Story So Far frontman Parker Cannon kicking a girl in the back to get her off the stage. He was annoyed by her jumping on stage with her phone to snap a video. This has brought out some of the best and the worst of the scene and it's time to talk about incidents like this.
Seems like we're hearing more and more about bands and/or fans abusing and hurting people at shows. No one deserves to be hurt for stuff like selfies on stage just because they are annoying. I felt this PSA was necessary at this point to show frontmen how to handle people who jump on stage. Watch the video below.
My top 5 favorite vocalist changes. What do you think?
As a music journalist using genres is an important thing that should not be dismissed. This was inspired by Rolling Stone's Top 40 Emo Albums Of All Time which failed to understand what the genre of emo actually is as well as why classifying music correctly can be important. Watch the video below.
Contributor Sean Gonzalez writes about why in the Star Wars universe, he would be unable to be a sith.
These are the albums that I enjoyed through 2015, even though they didn't make the Top 10 Most Memorable list, they still deserve recognition.
