Then it started getting messy. Mark and Travis released an interview basically describing how Tom almost refused to do Blink 182 and how it became more like a business transaction and less like a band. Next Tom released a post on Instagram stating he never actually left the band and it was news to him. Following that was a Twitter post from Tom (which he later deleted) stating that there was more to the story and that they once discussed kicking Travis out. Mark next gave an interview to Alt Press adressing that comment and basically saying what we all felt, Tom DeLonge clearly didn't want to be in Blink despite what he was saying. Finally DeLonge made a Facebook post talking about how their relationship had been poisoned and that he never wanted to leave Blink 182. So basically there's been a lot of back and forth.
So where does that leave the fans? Split, confused, and distraught. Now there's always three sides to every story, his side, her side, and the truth. We may never know what really is happening and who is really to blame, and I'm sure fans are going to be split into two camps. Honestly I support Mark and Travis, I don't think Tom should be persecuted for this, as some fans will try and do, but he comes off as the bad guy in this. From all the evidence and even his own words, it doesn't sound like he really cared about being in Blink and treated it more as a business transaction. Mark and Travis just sound frustrated, not angry. Either way it sucks. Yet at the same time this may be a good thing for the band. This may be an opportunity for them to either advanced themselves more as musicians or even return to the sound they had become famous for.
No matter what this whole situation was a long time coming and awful. No one wants to see a band go through something like this. I'll be watching this as it surely continuous, there's going to be plenty of mudslinging and misinformation, hopefully when the dust clears we will know what transpired and we will get an even better Blink 182.
