Chiodos have been the masters of the post-hardcore breakdown for years now, after a brief gap without frontman Craig Owens, Chiodos gave us Devil this year. While the album is a mixed bag, this song and the breakdown just prove again why they are so popular.
I talk about this band a lot because I really don't hear a lot of other people and they deserve recognition. This song in particular the breakdown is gut wrenching in the best way, it comes all the way at the end but it just fits so perfectly. It makes you want to get up and break something. It's even better live.
This is a breakdown, the rest of the song peels away, all you hear is the drum and a single guitar, and Austin Carlile's powerful screams, exploding into one of the best riffs in metalcore.
This comes off their split EP with The Artisan. The song is refreshing and yet familiar, it harkens back to the ealry 2000's of hardcore and it's great. The whole song is worth a listen.
This song in general really sounds like something off of The Somatic Defilement which is great, it's raw it's agressive, it's dark. Lyrically it's lacking but the breakdown is Whitechapel doing their best.
