If it wasn't obvious I hate Easycore. It's easily the laziest and the worst of all the metal/punk sub genres. If you're not familiar with Easycore it's a smashup of pop punk and metalcore. It takes the smooth catchy choruses and upbeat tempo of pop punk and mixes them with the screaming and heavy breakdowns of metalcore. Sounds like it might make for something interesting but it ends up like week old bread, stale. Yet there was time in the late 90s and early to mid 00's that saw the precursor to this style and it worked. Bands like Halifax and Karate High School dominated with a unique sound mixing pop punk fun with post hardcore style. Why do I bring this up? Home Sweet Home's Where The Heart Was manages to fall into the latter category and at the same time progress things a bit. It easily could have followed trends but instead it moves things forward and sets a bar for post hardcore.
Stray From The Path have caused an internet uproar with their video for the song Goodnight Alt-Right, here are my thoughts on the whole thing.
