Marmozets came in fast and hard when they released their brash brand of slick mathcore with their Passive Aggressive EP and I've been hooked ever since. They're debut full length album The Weird And Wonderful Marmozets toned things down a bit, it wasn't quite as out of control and even bordered on poppy at times. It was a change but one for the better. Their latest release Knowing What You Know Now changes things yet again but is this change welcome or should they have known better?
Rock artists covering pop songs is nothing new, it was a popular trend particularly in the early 2000's with the Punk Goes Pop series from Fearless Records. While full albums based on the covers died out for a little bit the label We Are Triumphant has brought it back in full force with their Got You Covered series. Volume 2 picks up from where the last one left off with a new roster of bands giving their take on the latest songs from pop radio.
Chasing Victory are one of the best and underrated post hardcore acts from the mid to late 00's. I feel like they got overlooked by the industry but they certainly had a fervent following myself included. It's been over a decade since we last got new music from the band with their album Fiends but they're finally back having announced a new EP called Friends and releasing the title track from the EP. Watch the video below and listen to the song Friends.
This EP should come with a warning that says "warning contents under pressure" because I feel like they've condensed so much into such a short amount of time that it feels explosive when you actually start listening to it. Gnarwolf have delivered their brand of brash, loud, and chaotic hardcore that just condenses so much style into a six song fourteen minute EP it should almost be illegal.
I listened to the new Fall Out Boy album Mania and all I got was an overwhelming sense of disappointment.
It’s hard to find a more diverse roster of bands in terms of sound than you’ll find on the label We Are Triumphant. The latest band to come bursting forth from their chest is We Set Signals out of Brisbane Australia. Treading the well worn ground of post hardcore the band is poised to break out with their newest EP called Abandon Ship. The band has a solid set of releases behind them, but does this EP light the way or is this a warning signal to stay away?
