Things pick up a bit for the energetic and highly charged song Low And Beholden which channels hardcore punk of old. There's a nice mix of styles on display here and as I mentioned it really shows the band has a sense of control over what they want to do. There's moments that will have you singing along, feeling every word, followed by moments that will have you moshing around the room. It's a balance that is hard to achieve but Actor|Observer have demonstrated a mastery of the craft. None of this is a surprise if you've ever watched the band live. Their powerful shows translate perfectly to this album and while it's a different experience it's still something you will feel.
Despite this technically being a sophomore album for the band I really feel like Pareidolia is a debut for the band. At the very least it's a reintroduction for those that have been following them and an initiation for those that are new. There's a mix of sounds and a proficiency on display here rarely seen within the genre. This album is surely going to leave a lasting impression and if you come across it you would be best served putting on some headphones, finding a dark room, and blasting it.
